Desperado
(Donner
Bube – Easter)
If you are looking for a flashy show horse
or herd sire in the future, this 2010 colt could fill the bill.
His pedigree is laden with strong ancestors and both parents
proved their athleticism. The bonus is that he will truly shine
when his black coat sheds out.
His sire carries the well known dressage
progenitors Donnerhall, Pik Bube I and Grundstein I. He proved
his athleticism and work ethic by competing as a 4’ jumper into
his teens and then as a PSG dressage horse. Noted dressage
clinician and coach, Conrad Schumacher, questioned why a horse
of Donner Bube’s caliber was not doing grand prix dressage in Germany. The
answer is that he was jumping in Switzerland when purchased and
imported to
Canada.
His dam is from the Gaspari 340 sire line
that has produced so many dressage horses of Swedish ancestry.
She is also related to several top jumpers and eventers at the
international level. She demonstrated her abilities in the
dressage ring, competing to grand prix.
He has the
conformation to
do a lot of things well, but would likely excel as a jumper.
Owner’s comment:
“Here is a striking colt with a super
disposition.”
Trainer's Perspective:
Desperado – This young
foal has lots of energy.
Desperado loves to play and is alert to his surroundings.
He has a great attitude and loves attention – he’s easy
to catch, lead and tie.
